Gynecomastia This term ‘Gynecomastia’ is not a common term, as it’s associated with the medical condition of breast enlargement in males of any age from infancy to the middle or old aged. This occurs due to the hormonal imbalance during puberty or other factors, when it happens during pubertal age it is mainly associated to the increased production of female hormones (estrogens) when compared to the male hormones (testosterones). What is Gynecomastia

It is the result of enlarged gland tissues in male breasts. Gynecomastia is different from pseudogynecomastia or lipomastia, as these conditions refer to fat accumulation in the breast region in men. Gynaecomastia can be unilateral or bilateral depending on the condition sometimes it has more effect on the either side even when both the breasts are involved. Slight tenderness can be experienced although no pain is associated with this condition.

Prevention or treatment

Gynecomastia cannot be prevented as far studies are concerned though it has treatment which makes it decrease or go away completely. Pubertal Gynecomastia can be seen getting normal after few months or a year. Although in the cases of older man it never goes on its own so, surgery can be an option to treat Gynecomastia.
